REVIEW: Boom Burger – Jamaican-inspired burger joint is back in town

Having closed its shack doors for a brief refurb, Jamaican-inspired burger joint Boom Burger has reopened on Portobello Road. With a small menu we were straight to business opting for a Fried Chicken Boom; a bouncy bun loaded with buttermilk fried chicken, scotch bonnet mayonnaise and house slaw. This has to be the best burger on the menu; it’s stand-out dish that you’d recommend to your friends. In a London full of innovative and ground breaking burgers, the classic Boom Burger (beef patty, cheese and bacon jam) wasn’t memorable or comparable to the Fried Chicken Burger.

Sticky Wings were succulent, juicy and jerktastic – the sauce was as thick as molasses. These wings do more than serve as an appetiser, they deserve to be centre-stage with the burgers. Another redeeming offering from Boom Burger is their selection of ‘Boom Juice’ better known as Pina Coladas, Rum Punch and a host of Boom specialities. The Pina Colada is served our favourite way; sweet and blended with a hair-rising pour of rum.
