We’re all in a flap here at The Sinner over news that the London Wing Fest is returning to our city in August; and this year looks to be bigger and better than ever.

Taking its inspiration from the legendary National Buffalo Wing Festival held annually in Buffalo New York, the London Wing Fest is a two-day extravaganza celebrating the wonders of the chicken wing, conceived by the founders of the popular Randy’s Wing Bar in Hackney Wick.

16 popular purveyors of the wing from around the country, from street food vendors to restaurants, will battle it out over the weekend in a fierce fight to be voted Best Buffalo Wing (traditionally an unbreaded wing, deep-fried and coated in a wickedly hot cayenne pepper sauce) and Best Wild Wing (a freestyle category where anything goes and contestants are limited only by their imaginations).

Contenders for the crown include luminaries of the food world such as Absurd Bird, Buffalo Joe’s, Le Bun, Mother Flipper, Spit & Roast, We Serve Humans, King Samosa and Wingbox and the winner will be voted for by the ticket holder – all wings cost just £1 and will be sold singly, giving you the opportunity to test as many as you can manage!

The weekend also sees the return of Dr Sweetsmoke’s lethal Lava Wing Challenge and a traditional wing eating challenge hosted by Frank’s Red Hot, as well as live music, craft beer by the crateful and BBQ demos. We can’t clucking wait!

The London Wing Fest will be held at Printworks in Canada Water across the 5th and 6th of August, open 12pm-9pm on the Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sunday.
