REVIEW: Aquum relaunches with a big focus on food – Clapham Common

Arriving back in Clapham Common with a bang is one of South London’s most popular bars, Aquum. It relaunched officially on 7th October and has already been welcomed back with open arms.

Following a complete and extensive refurbishment, the venue features a dedicated restaurant offering a fresh and modern twist on Greek dishes and innovative cocktails, while keeping true to its previous famous party atmosphere.

With a big focus on food, Head Chef Anastasios Tologlou (previously as Medlar, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Colniales Huerta) has created a menu that takes inspiration from his roots and his Michelin star background. Using delicious seasonal produce and authentic recipes, guests can expect classic food like souvlaki, fragrant fish dishes and slow cooked succulent cuts with a variety of fresh salads and flavoursome small plates.

The newly relaunched venue has also created a list of unusual Greek cocktails, alongside selected Greek wine and beer to go with its new food menu. Enjoy Cretan Mini Dakos (Cretan barley rusk with tomatoes and sour Mizithra cheese) with the Greek Negroni (Bombay Sapphire, Skinos Mastis liquer, sweet vermouth and Campari) or go for the Chargrilled Octopus with fava beans, olive oil and crunchy capers washed down with the Greek Rose Spritz (Metaxa infused with rose petals and Prosecco).

To wash all the delicious new offerings down, make sure you leave room for the Metaxa Espresso (Metaxa, sugar, espresso and Tia Maria).

See you on the dancefloor!
